Makelog Overview

The Challenge

Users struggled with finding specific entries in lengthy changelogs, had limited customization options to match their brand identity, no way to subscribe to specific types of updates, and a cluttered entry creation workflow.

Process

Research & Discovery

Our approach kicked off with thorough research and discovery. We conducted customer interviews, usability tests, and analyzed session recordings to pinpoint pain points. As a small team, we could really zero in on what our customers needed.

Design & Iteration

I created wireframes and prototypes, working closely with the development team to implement enhancements. Throughout the project, we maintained close communication with customers, incorporating their feedback into our design process.

Key Features Shipped

Search & Filter

Search and Filter UI

I designed a sticky header with search and filter options, allowing users to access these tools conveniently as they scroll. Customer feedback confirmed this significantly improved their workflow.

New Entry Modal

The redesigned entry modal features a two-step process with a user-friendly two-column layout, background gradient customization, corner radius controls, and AI generative tools integration.

Email Subscriptions

Email Subscription Feature

Users can now subscribe to email updates and customize their subscriptions to receive updates on specific types of changes—ensuring they only get the information they care about.

Outcome

The relaunch significantly improved user experience. Customers appreciated the enhanced customization options, which allowed them to align the changelog with their website's style. The improvements reinforced the importance of user-centered design in product development.

Future Concepts

New and Noteworthy Concept

I also explored a "New and Noteworthy" section concept for curating and highlighting important updates—representing an area for potential future development.
